As Reading town centre, it’s inhabitants and workers try and go about their usual Monday morning business, traffic chaos is ensuing as Reading Bridge, the key crossing over the Thames, is closed for a fortnight of essential maintenance work.
Traffic queues into the town are already at twice their normal level this morning with the Henley Road into Caverhsam traffic moving just 200 yards in 20 minutes.
Reading buses have put on extra servcies from Gosport road and Church Street/Caversham High street with a special £1 one way fare available for the duration of the works.
Drivers are encouraged to use other methods of transport where ever possible
