We are delighted to confirm that Reading FC Women have today secured promotion to FA Women’s Super League 1 for the 2016 season.

A 3-1 win at Watford Ladies reinforced the Royals’ position in a promotion position at the top end of WSL 2, sitting three points behind Doncaster Rovers Belles but with a game in hand and a superior goal-difference.  Today’s result alone meant that Reading FC Women knew they would be able to travel to Millwall next weekend in the knowledge that a win would take them up to the top flight.

However a 1-0 victory for Oxford in the day’s late kick-off away to Yeovil meant that the Glovers can no longer catch the top two – and therefore sealed Reading’s promotion to the summit of the women’s game in England!

Melissa Fletcher, Helen Ward and Rachel Rowe each found the net this afternoon at Berkhamsted FC – the news of the U’s victory over Yeovil filtered through later on, and allowed the celebrations to flow.
